Glorification Of Crime

In today's society, murder, rape, suicide, gang warfare, riots, drive-by shootings and other graphic depictions of violence are no further away than the nearest remote control. All of these images and more can be viewed from the comfort of one's own home on television. In recent times we have witnessed a new trend in media which is re enactment of criminal events.  Currently almost all channels which are showing similar crime events with all the attractive contents and other spicy material. Initially the main objective of these programs was to aware viewers of the criminal events and the motto behind them. However it has been observed that the effect it is creating on public’s mind is that they are getting aware of different ways to take revenge from their enemies and to make quick money. Many people are seen discussing the idea of becoming ‘ROBIN HOOD’ in today’s tough times. Recession, job insecurity and inflation are the elements which is making everyone depressed and aggressive. Therefore these programs are not helping much in mitigation of inflation and depression in one’s life. We can analyze the recent increase in the crime and increase in the episodes of such programs. People are actually sitting with their families to watch these re enactments crimes like Tele Theater or FIR series. When drama is based on reality and is giving the impression that a life of crime is something to be admired, then I think there are problems. It is glorifying something that is wrong."

Due to these ill effects, parents should preach their children not to watch these programs as they can have negative impact on their innocent minds.

The objective of the media is to bring the truth to its viewers but sometimes truth is bitter. If we take example of USA, we have never encountered CNN or Fox channels talking about rape and snatching cases in USA. In USA 100s of criminal events take place on.

"I just cannot believe that why the producers of programs would now reward these sorts of people with glorification and guest appearances on TV."

It is a sad state of affairs when the glorification of criminals and their activities has become a business.
